Former Kansas City Chiefs All Pro guard Will Shields will lead an evening of fun and football on Tuesday, Sept. 10, all centered on the game of football. Proceeds benefit Back in the Swing breast cancer survivor program.
This hands-on event will take place 7-9 p.m. at 68 Inside Sports Indoor Training Facility, 9111 Flint, Overland Park, Kan. The course is open to all women ages 16 and up.
“We teach the real game of football,” Shields said. “You’ll learn it, live it and love it."
Those attending should wear comfortable/work-out clothing and athletic shoes; the course will be held on an actual turf field set up for football. A $10 donation is suggested to cover Women’s Football 101; a portion of the proceeds will benefit Back in the Swing USA, the Kansas City-based grassroots national nonprofit organization supporting breast cancer survivorship education, clinical care and academic medical research (www.backintheswing.org).

Since 1993, Shields has helped thousands of people in the Kansas City area through his Will to Succeed Foundation. Shields has been recognized for his community efforts – like the minicamp – through numerous awards including his selection as the 2003 recipient of the NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, the Class of 2011 College Football Hall of Fame and as the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s 2010 Man of the Year award. These honors recognize Shields’ success both on and off the field.
