The volleyball playoff picture in Region VI will come down to a photo finish Wednesday night.
With a sweep of Coffeyville 26-24, 25-14, 25-22 Monday night, No. 19 Kansas City Kansas Community College stayed deadlocked for third place at 7-3 with Butler County and No. 16 Neosho County heading into the final night of play Wednesday.
The Lady Blue Devils (17-10) will close out regional play at Labette (9-23) while Neosho (26-7) goes to sixth place Allen County (23-13) and Butler (29-7) finishes with Hesston (3-22). However, KCKCC defeated Butler in their head-to-head match but the Blue Devils lost to Neosho.
“We need to win at Labette and then see how things play out,” says KCKCC head coach Mary Bruno.
Where the Blue Devils will play in playoff action Nov. 9 will be determined Wednesday when No. 1 Cowley is host to No. 3 Johnson County in a clash of 10-0 teams. The winner of that showdown will be the host for the No, 4, 5 and 8 finishers in Region VI; the loser will entertain the No. 3, 6 and 7 finishers.
KCKCC will close out its home season against Longview at Sophomore Night at 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday, Nov, 5.
