Freshman Guilherme Ribeiro added drama to Kansas City Kansas Community College’s best soccer start in recent years by scoring the go-ahead goal in the first overtime in a 4-3 Blue Devil win over Allen County Saturday.
The win boosted the Blue Devils’ Jayhawk Conference record to 2-0 and overall record to 3-0 heading into Sunday’s games with Southwestern Illinois ((1 and 3 p.m.) and Tuesday’s clashes with Blue River (1 and 3 p.m.).
A graduate of Olympia High in Orlando, Fla., Ribeiro had two goals in the game, giving him five for the season. Freshmen also scored the other two KCKCC goals, Ryan Winter and Josue Acura. Allen’s goals were scored by Oscar Marrufo, Dorian Fox and Corey Hudson.
The Lady Blue Devils, however, were not so fortunate, dropping a 3-1 decision. Blanco Bueno, a sophomore from Harmon, scored KCKCC’s lone goal.
