Kansas City Kansas Community College sophomore Brittany Clement is going to realize her basketball dream.
“I’ve always wanted to play basketball in Florida,” Clement said after signing to play this coming season at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne on Florida’s Space Coast.
A 5-7 guard, Clement had hoped to play in Florida immediately after graduating from Blue Springs High School. However, she was injured her senior season. “I had no offers but Tony Armstrong who had coached at Blue Springs (and assisted at KCKCC) recommended KCKCC,” said Clement.
Clement was third in scoring (9.9 points) and assists and led the Lady Blue Devils in 3-point goals and 3-point shooting percentage (.453) as a freshman. As a sophomore, she started 17 games, averaging 4.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists.
Clement is expected to step right into the starting lineup at Florida Tech, an NCAA Division II member which finished 16-11 this past season. “They said they do not take transfers for no reason,” said Clement.
“It’s a good situation for Brittany,” said KCKCC Ccoach Valerie Stambersky. “She’s a good 3-point shooter who can penetrate and her basketball IQ should be of help to the team.”
