The Piper Pirates varsity volleyball squad lost its match Friday in the state tournament with Chanute.
Chanute won in two sets, 25-18 and 25-19.
The Pirates, the first Piper volleyball team to ever go to a state tournament, are 22-17.
Chanute went on to the finals of the state tournament Saturday, and placed third, losing to Louisburg.
The state champion in Class 4A, Division 1, was Bishop Miege, which defeated Louisburg in the title match. Miege defeated Rose Hill to advance to the championship game.
