A group of Wyandotte High School students will be spending part of their spring break teaching and mentoring future Bulldogs, and future marching band members.
Approximately 10 members of the 2012-2013 Wyandotte Marching Band will be holding a free Band Leadership Camp from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 18-22. Attendees will be current Northwest and Central middle school students – future Bulldogs. The camp is also open to Wyandotte students who have one or fewer years of experience in band.
“Our goal is to grow band members,” said Lazell Williams, band director. “We’re taking every opportunity we can to improve our programs, and to grow our students and prepare them for their futures.”
Among the 10 Wyandotte students who will serve as mentors at the camp will be Chris Arce, tuba player who was chosen for the 2013 All-District Band and All-State Band.
Camp attendees will have the opportunity showcase what they learned by performing in a Band Extravaganza set for May 11 at Kansas City, Kansas Community College.
