The Kansas City, Kan., Board of Education honored two employees during the Jan. 22 school board meeting.

Trevor Smith, librarian at Silver City Elementary School; and Chandra Johnson, secretary at Hazel Grove Elementary School, were honored.

Johnson’s nomination:

“Chandra Johnson is an amazing secretary who goes above and beyond the call of duty.  She knows students, parents, and staff.  She treats everyone with absolute respect and does whatever needs to be done, with a smile!  She is so dedicated to our school, she will always stay with children who miss their bus or are not picked up on time.  We are very grateful to have her at Hazel Grove.”  Sincerely, Lea Johnson, secretary.

Smith’s nomination:

“I nominate Trevor Smith, our librarian at Silver City as the star who makes a difference!  Since Mr. Smith joined our library, it has been so exciting to see the introduction to many new books, fun in-services, and the changes taking place in the student’s!  His knowledge of computers and websites has greatly enhanced the students’ knowledge also.  Thank you Mr. Smith, we appreciate all that you do.”  Sincerely, Linda Macek, teacher.
