‘Dirty Girl Mud Run’ coming to Ag Hall
The Dirty Girl Mud Run, a 5k run for women, is coming to the Ag Hall Saturday, June 22, in Bonner Springs.
The run is held at different sites around the nation. The Ag Hall is not a sponsor, but is the host site of the event, at 126th and State Avenue.
Women of all ages and athletic abilities may compete in the run. It also includes an obstacle course.
The 5k will include a challenging environment as well as a team-building experience aimed at increasing confidence.
The entry fee is from $65 to $100. Females 14 years and older may participate.
Organizers say during 2013, Dirty Girl expects to donate $300,000 to breast cancer charities nationwide. Cancer survivors run free.
‘Walk the Dotte’ fundraiser to be June 22
The “Walk the Dotte” fundraiser for KCK Special Olympics will be held Saturday, June 22, at Wyandotte County Park, 126th and State Avenue.
Registration starts at 6:45 a.m. and the walk begins at 8 a.m. The KCK Huggers sponsored Special Needs Boy Scouts Troop 133 from Kaw District will assist by handing out fruit, cold water and balloons to participants.
Funds raised from this event will help provide sports and activities for the KCK Special Olympics program’s 420 members ranging in ages from 5 to 75-plus.
Basketball, track and field, softball, and bowling are the primary sports with themed dances, educational trips, movie dinner nights, and other fun activities such as outings for shopping, and vacation day trips.

This year’s event sponsors included: Laborers’ International Union, Local 1290 and 1290PE, Family Medical Group, Burke Travel, Inc., Associated Podiatrists, KCK Huggers, Inc.-Special Olympics and The Unified Government Parks and Recreation Department.
This is a good walk for someone interested in trying an organized walking event for the first time, a spokesman for the event said.

Spirit Race 5K to be June 22
The Spirit Race 5K and Fun Run will be at 8 a.m. June 22 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, 1800 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kan.
Student Athlete Foundation of Kansas (SAF-K) provides athletic trainers to several high schools in Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties. SAF-K is in need of automatic external defibrillators (AED) to carry as its members travel from site to site to look out for the health and safety of local athletes. Funds raised this year will go towards the purchase of AEDs.

Church plans pancake breakfast
Several programs are being offered at Wyandotte United Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland Ave. Free salsa lessons are held from 3 to 4 p.m. each Saturday in June at Wyandotte United Methodist Church, and new participants are welcome. An all-church breakfast is on the calendar from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 22. There will be a free-will donation
Program on geocaching offered
A program on geocaching will be offered from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. June 22 at the West Wyandotte Library, Conference Room B, 1737 N. 82nd. The program will discuss the outdoor adventure of geocaching. A limited amount of GPS devices will be available. Those attending may feel free to bring their own.
Church plans festival
St. Mary-St. Anthony Catholic Church, 615 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kan., will hold its annual Ethnic Festival on Saturday, June 22. The festival on the parish grounds will begin immediately following the 4 p.m. Mass and continue until 9 p.m. The food venue will have German, Irish, Mexican and American items. A fundraiser with prizes is planned, along with games.
Church to hold potluck dinner
White Church Christian Church, 1 block north of Parallel Parkway at 2200 N. 85th St., will hold a potluck featuring steak and shrimp, along with home cooking. Live entertainment will be provided by the Witness Band. The event is at 4 p.m. June 22. All are invited.
T-Bones to play Laredo at home
