The old Piper West Elementary School, 3130 N. 122nd St., has been turned into the new Piper Community Center.
The ribbon-cutting will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 17. The center has a renovated gym for community use, as well as meeting space and classroom space. Program space will be available for community groups including senior citizens and youth groups.
The center is a joint project of the Unified Government and the Piper School District. The building also will have classroom space for the early childhood education program and school district offices.
