A brilliantly colored mural, created and painted by persons recovering from mental illness, will be unveiled and dedicated during a brief program at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Frank Williams Outreach Center, 1201 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kan.
The outreach center serves persons who are homeless and in need, and is a program of Wyandot Center, Wyandotte County’s designated community mental health center.
Guest speakers will include Unified Government Mayor and CEO Mark Holland, and Donald C., one of the artists. A group of consumers designed the 5x11-foot mural to illustrate the onset of illness and movement toward full recovery. Efforts were spearheaded by ArtMakers’ Place, another program of Wyandot Center.
