The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools’ Parents as Teachers program is looking for mothers or expectant mothers to participate in a federal study that will evaluate the effectiveness of home visits to families.
The study, titled MIHOPE (Mother and Infant Home Visiting Program Evaluation), is being conducted as part of a Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program grant.
To qualify, mothers must:
• Be pregnant or have an infant who is under 6 months of age
• Be at least 15 years of age or older
Qualifying participants may be asked to participate in telephone interviews, allow video recording during home visits and more. Some incentives will be provided. Participants will be asked to remain involved in the Parents as Teachers program for at least two years.
PAT provides developmental screenings, group meetings, parent child playgroups and personal visits for parents of children ages birth to 36 months. For more information, contact Rita Kancel, PAT coordinator, 913-627-4375.
