A new clinic for moms will open at Southwest Boulevard Family Health Care, 300 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Kan.
The clinic will help address the high infant mortality rate in Wyandotte County, according to a spokesman for the clinic.
It will help with prenatal care and deliveries for women who live in Wyandotte County.
According to the spokesman for the clinic, there are 8.3 deaths per 1,000 infants in Wyandotte County, compared to 7.1 in Jackson County and 5.5 in Johnson County. The national rate is 6 per 1,000.
Infant mortality rates have declined in Kansas over the last 20 years, but Wyandotte County's numbers have continued to be very high, according to the spokesman.
The clinic will be open for tours from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11.
