In a follow-up to a community mental health meeting held Sept. 21 in Kansas City, Mo., those who provide mental health services may attend a meeting from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus Best Building Conference Center, 12604 Quivira, Overland Park.
The event is intended to make sure that service providers are involved in the effort to engage local citizens in improving mental health.
The local planning team capped participation of mental health services providers at 40 at the Sept. 21 event at the recommendation of the national organizers in order to give voice to community members.
Service providers include psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, nonprofit executives - anyone whose role involves working with people who have mental health challenges or who work in the mental health field. Information will be presented about the community conversation and then participants will be invited to work in small groups to provide feedback.
The Consensus group has released a report on the Sept. 21 meeting at http://www.consensuskc.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Summary-report-ccs-kc-9-21-13.pdf.
