The eighth annual Lawson Roberts Butterfly Festival Insect Photography Contest started Aug. 2 and runs through Sept. 6.
The annual photography contest is sponsored by the Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Environmental Library, a branch of the Kansas City, Kan., Public Library, at Wyandotte County Lake.
Winners will be announced at the eighth annual Lawson Roberts Butterfly Festival Insect Festival on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The contest has two age categories, 16 and under, and 17 and up.
According to contest rules, photographs must be of an insect, but spiders are not allowed. The insect must be clearly visible in the picture.
Photos must be 8x10 inches, framed and ready to hang, preferably with a wire.
A digital copy of each photo is required to firstname.lastname@example.org.
All submissions must be marked with the entrant’s name, age category, email address and telephone number.
The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6.
