Students of month, January
Three students were honored as Students of the Month Jan. 8 by the Kansas City, Kan., Board of Education.
Kevin Lor, fourth-grader from Silver City Elementary School, was nominated by his teachers, Crystal Mason and Glenda Beal. They both said that Kevin is a student who tries very hard on assignments and put great effort into everything he does in the classroom. "Kevin is also very respectful and comes to school each day with a smile and ready to learn. He always asks questions and then continues to give his best effort. We are proud to nominate Kevin Lor, as a student of the month from Silver City.” Sincerely, Crystal Mason and Glenda Beal, teachers.
“Alesia Jackson, eighth-grader from Arrowhead Middle School, is a fantastic kid and a fabulous student. In fact, Mrs. Equels, her math teacher, remarks, ‘Alesia is a kind person to everyone she meets. She is very conscious of her work and turns it all in---correctly! She is a delight to have in class.’ Indeed, she comes very prepared to class each day and goes above and beyond to make sure she is taking care of her own learning. Even though she has overcome some huge challenges in her life, this doesn’t stop her from her thoughtfulness, her honesty, and approaches it with a lot of humility. She will make a huge contribution to our world and our future.” Sincerely, Michael Rebne, teacher.
“Laurie Ordonez, ninth-grader at Schlagle, is the ideal student. She is consistently on task and her desire is to perform well academically and behaviorally. She has a great attitude, general demeanor, and clear leadership capability. Other students in the class look up to her and trust her opinion. Laurie isn’t afraid to ask questions in math class and will work until she masters a new concept. We are honored and proud to recommend Laurie Ordonez as a student of the month.” Sincerely, Dillon Buck, P. Nicholas Mancini, Jenny Prater; teachers, and Geoff Markos, assistant principal.
