The Douglass-Sumner Neighborhood plans a cleanup, Operation Facelift, on April 27, according to Beatrice Lee of the Douglass-Sumner neighborhood group.
All persons living in the Douglass-Sumner area, along with code enforcement, community policing, Sumner Academy students, LISC and NSP representatives, are invited to meet at 8 a.m. April 27 at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church parking lot, 8th and Everett.
Those participating will receive trash bags, gloves, and other supplies. They also will receive information about what areas they will be responsible to clean up. They will drop off the trash at a dumpster at 9th and New Jersey.
As many as 26 Sumner Academy students plan to participate in the cleanup, Lee said.
The cleanup day will be held rain or shine, she said.
