Kansas City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo., were named the Star Award winners at the Fiber to the Home Conference in Tampa, Fla.
McAnany, Van Cleave and Phillips attorney and former mayor Joe Reardon accepted the award from the Fiber to the Home Council president, Heather Gold. Also accepting the award was Aaron Deacon, director of KC Digital Drive.
The award recognizes a person, community or company that has gone above what is expected in the advancement of the fiber to the home cause.
Kansas City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo., joined with Google Fiber to bring ultra-high-speed fiber infrastructure to residents. The cities are a model for others working to bring fiber connections to the home in their communities.
