Two employees were honored recently as Employees of the Month by the Kansas City, Kan., Board of Education.

The two employees who were honored were the February Employees of the Month, but because of inclement weather they could not be honored until March. They are  Kathy Kaminski, library aide at John Fiske Elementary School, and Linda Berry, nurse at West Middle School.

Kathy Kaminski's nomination: If you had to pick one staff member who is universally adored by staff and students alike, it would have to be Kathy Kaminski, the library aide at John Fiske Elementary School.  Kathy is genuinely a nice person whose warmth brightens everyone’s day.  No former student’s visit to the school is complete without seeing Mrs. K, as everyone calls her.  Her computer and work area are filled with photos of students past and present.  Her demeanor and work ethic are a great example for students.  You can always count on Mrs. K.  She represents the very best of what this district has to offer.  Sincerely, Rick Smith, Teacher

Linda Berry's nomination: As my first year as principal here at West Middle School, I have been noticing staff members who go above and beyond to make sure out students are prepared for learning daily. One staff member who stands out is our school nurse, Linda Berry.  She can be seen most mornings waiting patiently for those students who see her first thing in the morning. She not only takes care of their medical needs, but she advocates for her students. She is truly amazing and deserves the employee of the month/year award.  Sincerely, Elvira, principal at West Middle School.
