Two Kansas City, Kan., students at Kansas State University are spending their spring break to help others.

Ismael "Izzy" Hernandez, sophomore in construction science and management, is spending spring break in Chicago, and Ja'Lynne Montgomery, sophomore in elementary education, is spending spring break in Houston.  Both students are from Kansas City, Kan. They  are among more than 30 K-State students participating in the university’s alternative spring break program March 18-22.

Coordinated by students in the School of Leadership Studies, participants volunteer for service learning projects across the United States.

Alternative spring break locations include: Roseland/Pullman Boys and Girls Club in Chicago; and No More Victims in Houston, an advocacy agency for children of incarcerated parents.
