Several events are planned at the Alcott Arts Center, 180 S. 18th, Kansas City, Kan.
Artizen Productions will present “Beyond the Box,” a “transformational musical,” on Oct. 4, 5 and 6 at Alcott.
“Beyond the Box,” according to information from Alcott, is a show that is about perceptions of reality, and which favors a “win-win” humanity based on cooperation and common sense.
The script and music are by Holly Taylor, with the stage production by Kaedden Timi-Landy. According to Alcott, Artizen Productions creates art to send its message about sustainable energy, green living and enlightenment.
The production will be presented at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 and Oct. 5, and at 2 p.m. Oct. 6. A community workshop is planned from 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 5.
Tickets are $12 each and benefit Artizen Productions and the Alcott Arts Center and Foundation.
Next on the schedule for Alcott is a Mid-Life Players’ production of “Forbidden Broadway’s Greatest Hits” in concert.
The concert is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18; 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19; 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25; and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. Tickets are $10.
The production is a funny tribute to the theater’s greatest stars and songwriters. It was created and written by Gerard Alessandrini, with musical direction by Catherine Coleman Boone. Accompanist is Debbie Goddard.
The cast includes Patty Moore Armstrong, Gary Barber, Pete Barrett, Ruth Bigus, Catherine Coleman Boone, Becky Clark, Julie Fox, Debbie DeRossett Huffman, Sharon McMurtry Johnson, Michael Kizzee, Curt Knupp, Susan Lary, Nan Lippincott, Rick Mundy, Kelly Pedotto, Dan Prather, Joy Richardson, John Van de Voort, Linda Wetzel and Andrea Williams-Serrioz.
