I have officially resigned my position of Grinter Place Friends Inc. Board president. I served in that position for almost four years, but with the businesses, possible businesses and progress in the Leavenworth Road area, and as executive director of Leavenworth Road Association, I felt I needed those extra hours freed from Grinter obligations. This now allows more time to devote to even more promotion of the Leavenworth Road area.
This decision did not come easy, I had been tossing it around for a little over six months, but I wanted to wait until the Audit Committee had researched the bank accounts and formed their report. The audit became final late August, with small, if any, mathematical errors from 2011 to 2013, along with suggestions for guidelines for the treasurer. I then felt I could resign knowing things were in order, leaving evenings and weekends open for some new activities in our LRA area. I wanted to share this as I know many times, rumors begin and inquiring minds deserve to know. The resignation letter, the audit report and meeting minutes are available to anyone wishing a copy.
There will be some new programs coming to Leavenworth Road area, beginning with a meeting at 6 p.m. Oct. 15 at Trinity Community Church, 5010 Parallel Parkway. This is a program being conducted by Commissioner Jane Philbrook, District 8. She is inviting all business owners, all residents in the area and even those that communicate through the area, to join in, bring their visions of what they would like to see in the area. Bring your ideas and watch us grow.
Another partnership event in the LRA area will be Oct. 22, Kennedy Elementary School, Excellence in Education, watch for more on that also.
