Letter to the editor: King

Dear editor,
In recent stories, BPU board members were quoted as saying "they were making tough decisions, and they were listening" to the ratepayers. I have a suggestion. They currently pay themselves about 1 k a month plus travel, and medical insurance. They could reduce their compensation by 2/3, until the  current financial crisis is over. They only meet twice a month, for generally less than 2 hours a meeting. $250 an hour is pretty good money. Also compare that with the UG commissioners, whose meetings last many hours, plus the time they spend in committee meetings. Granted, the money saved would not be a great amount but would send a message that they have some skin in the game  too.
