U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-3rd Dist., voted today in favor of a balanced budget resolution.
The bill passed by a vote of 221-207. The budget resolution, called H.Con.Res.25, establishes the budget for FY 2014, and budget levels for fiscal years 2015 through 2023.
Among other things, the House budget resolution achieves balance within 10 years. Following the vote, Congressman Yoder made the following statement:
“Today, the House passed a budget that will actually balance in the next decade. I voted “Yes” on this plan because I strongly believe that Congress has an obligation to do its job, and balance the books just like every hard working family back in Kansas has to. A balanced budget will bring more confidence and certainly to our economy; easing credit lending, giving business owners the flexibility to take risks to grow and expand. A balanced budget will mean more economic growth, more jobs for the unemployed, larger paychecks, and a healthier national economy. And, as the balance becomes balanced we actually ensure that safety net programs are strengthened, that promises to seniors are kept, and these programs are preserved for those that need them now, and in the future. As we go forward, we must chart a debt free future for our country, rebuild the American economy and honor the commitment of each and every hard working American taxpayer.”
