I-35 near Southwest Boulevard in Kansas City, Kan., was the site of a couple of accidents that resulted in slowed traffic on Wednesday morning.
According to Kansas Highway Patrol reports, there were two accidents involving multiple vehicles.
The first was listed as a hit-and-run. In the first accident, a 2005 Mazda overturned, rolling onto its top, about 6:22 a.m. Wednesday.
The Mazda was northbound when it was struck by another vehicle on the passenger side, the trooper’s report stated. The driver lost control and the Mazda rolled. The driver, a 27-year-old from Overland Park, was injured and taken to a hospital. The other vehicle did not stop.
The highway patrol reported a second accident at 6:23 a.m. Wednesday on northbound I-35 near Southwest Boulevard.
A 2011 Jeep was northbound on I-35 when it lost control, according to the trooper’s report. It struck the inside barrier wall, and traveled across all three lanes of traffic. It then came to rest in the outside lane.
A 2008 Ford Taurus driven by a 48-year-old Shawnee, Kan., man then struck the Jeep, the report stated.
After that, a 2002 Honda car driven by a 37-year-old Olathe man struck the Jeep.
The 31-year-old Shawnee driver of the Jeep was taken to a Kansas City, Kan., hospital with a possible injury, according to the trooper’s report.
