A vacant home fire at 3018 N. 43rd St. on Friday morning is under investigation as suspicious, according to the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department.
The home had previously burned in March 2013 and had been vacant since, a spokesman said.
Crews were at the scene within 3 minutes of the report, about 4:25 a.m. May 24.
Because the building was unstable from the previous fire, the fire was fought in the defensive mode only, according to the spokesman, and was under control in 40 minutes.
The structure was a total loss, estimated at $20,000.
The residence next door sustained about $2,000 damage to siding, according to the Fire Department.
There were no injuries.
