The unemployment rate in Kansas City, Kan., decreased to 8.9 percent in March 2013, according to the Kansas Department of Labor.
The KDOL released the county and city unemployment rates today.
The March rate dropped slightly from February’s 9.3 percent rate in Kansas City, Kan., according to the figures. The rate represented 5,701 persons on the unemployment list in Kansas City, Kan., according to the KDOL.
In Wyandotte County, unemployment was 8.6 percent in March, as compared to 9 percent in February.
Statewide, the unemployment rate was 5.8 percent in March, unchanged from the previous month.
Statewide, there were 3,100 new jobs added in Kansas, including 1,800 jobs in construction. Leisure and hospitality added 1,400 jobs statewide, according to the KDOL
