UMKC today announced an expansion of its campus to downtown Kansas City, Mo.
A $20 million pledge from the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation is funding the UMKC arts campus expansion.
In a news release today, UMKC stated the $20 million challenge grant will go toward funding the first phase of the downtown arts campus.
The UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance is expected to be located in the Crossroads District in Kansas City, Mo. Subsequent phases would move other UMKC arts programs to the site, according to the announcement.
The conservatory must raise an additional $70 million in funding to proceed with the project’s first phase within three years, according to the announcement.
