A 1984 Chevrolet pickup truck northbound on I-635 overturned and caught fire at 7:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, near the Shawnee Drive exit in Kansas City, Kan.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s crash report, the truck went onto the inside shoulder for unknown reasons and struck the barrier wall before overturning.
A spare tire from the truck then crossed the barrier wall and hit a 1984 Isuzu truck that was southbound on I-635, the trooper’s report stated.
The driver of the Chevy pickup, a 30-year-old man from Olathe, Kan., was injured and taken to a hospital in Kansas City, Kan. He was not wearing a safety restraint, according to the report.
The driver of the Isuzu truck, a 38-year-old man from Louisburg, Kan., was not injured, according to the report.
