Accident at I-70 and Turner Diagonal
As of 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, the Turner Diagonal to eastbound I-70 bridge ramp has reopened with one lane.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, the ramp has one 12-foot lane because of damage done to the bridge ramp structure in a traffic accident Aug. 17.
Inspection work now has been completed, according to a KDOT spokesman. Parts need to be ordered, and once they arrive, then repairs will be made to fix the damaged bridge structure, KDOT stated. Project work is scheduled to be completed in early October 2013, weather permitting.
On Aug. 17, the driver of a dump truck had unloaded asphalt and forgot to lower the bed of his truck when he went under the bridge, causing damage to the bridge.
