Thunderstorms may develop from mid-afternoon into Tuesday evening in the Kansas City area, according to the National Weather Service.
Very warm and humid air will allow some storms to become severe, according to the weather service.
These storms may produce large hail, sporadic wind damage and perhaps a tornado in part of the region, the weather service said. Heavy rain is possible in Wyandotte County.
The weather service has said spotters may be needed after 4 p.m. north of a Kansas City to Macon line.
Late Wednesday night, more thunderstorms are possible, continuing through Friday night. Warm, humid air will interact with a near stationary front.
