Storms have moved out of the Kansas City, Kan., area today but there is still a 60 percent chance of storms and rain tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
A high of 88 is expected today, with a heat index possibly reaching 96 in Kansas City, Kan., according to the weather service.
Storms may develop over Iowa and Nebraska and then move closer to the Kansas City region between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to the weather service. It is unclear whether the storms will affect Kansas City, Kan., but they are expected to be fast-moving storms with heavy rainfall, frequent lightning and wind.
More thunderstorms are in the forecast for Aug. 7.
