Snow has started to fall in Wyandotte County, in what is predicted to be a major winter storm.
Rain and snow are likely before 7 p.m, then snow after 7 p.m., the National Weather Service stated. Four to eight inches of snow is possible tonight.
At the end of Tuesday, the area could end up with as much as 3 to 7 more inches.
A little snow is possible Wednesday, also, according to the forecast.
The winds are expected to be 15 mph with gusts as high as 21 mph this afternoon. Wind speeds may increase tonight, gusting up to 30 mph. The 30 mph wind gusts may continue on Tuesday, the weather service stated.
The weather service stated that people should travel only in an emergency, as travel will become hazardous.
