A small fire at 11:06 a.m. March 16 at 41 N. James St. caused $2,000 damage at an animal feed manufacturing business, according to the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department.
Fire crews arrived at the scene within 3 minutes of the fire and reported the fire was coming from feed processing equipment.
The fire was located in a processing dryer on the upper floor of the building, the spokesman said.
Crews were able to bring the fire under control and contain it to equipment involved, according to the spokesman. Crews remained on the scene until all product was removed from the dryer and extinguished. The employees had self-evacuated..
The fire investigator responded to the scene. The damage was estimated at $2,000 to the product lost and there was no damage to the dryer equipment, according to the spokesman. There were no injuries.
