The grieving family of a slain teen spoke out today at a news conference, asking for an end to violence.
Miguel Garcia, 14, was shot during a drive-by on Saturday, March 30, near 14th and Armstrong. Police are looking for two persons allegedly involved in the shooting, and a black Ford Explorer.
Today his family asked for an end to violence. A prayer vigil is planned at 6 p.m. April 4 near 14th and Armstrong.
Family members said Miguel attended Central Middle School. The family had recently moved to that neighborhood, and Miguel formerly attended Indian Woods school. Miguel wanted to be a mechanic and serve in the Army, family members said. He is survived by his father, mother, sister, and two older brothers.
Anyone with information about two suspects being sought or the black Ford Explorer may call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
