The National Weather Service said a severe thunderstorm warning is now in effect until 10 p.m. Oct. 4.
The warning is for Wyandotte County as well as several surrounding counties.
At 8:57 p.m. the National Weather Service radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line from Williamstown to Lawrence to Vinland to 5 miles northeast of Ottawa to Princeton, moving northeast at 45 mph.
Wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected with these storms, along with frequent dangerous lightning. Lightning can currently be seen in Wyandotte County (as of 9:20 p.m.).
Bonner Springs, Edwardsville, Kansas City, Kan., and many other areas are in the path of the storm.
