About $500,000 was distributed to Wyandotte County school districts recently from casino grant funds, according to the Unified Government newsletter.
The funds are from Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway, and are part of an Inter-local Government Funding Agreement.
The amounts received by the local school districts: $173,359 to the Kansas City, Kan., Public Schools (District 500); $146,598 to the Piper Public Schools (District 203); and $180,043 to the Turner Public Schools (District 202).
The Bonner Springs Public Schools are not on this list because the funds go to the non-host school district foundations. Since most of the casino is in the Bonner Springs Public Schools district, that district receives property taxes from the casino. Part of the parking garage is in the Kansas City, Kan., school district, so that district gets some funds from the parking garage property tax.
