A mother of a 21-month-old and a 10-year-old is singing the praises of a Kansas City, Kan., police major after she had car trouble June 7.
Taking her son to an appointment, the resident was driving on I-70 near 78th when her car stalled.
“I tried to call friends and family, but nobody was available,” she said.
Somewhat panicked, the resident was helped by a Good Samaritan she didn’t know, named Don, and Kansas City, Kan., Police Major Tyrone Garner.
Both calmed her down, looked at the car to determine what was wrong – the throttle sensor was bad – and then Don, whose last name she doesn’t know, gave her a ride home with Major Garner following to make sure she arrived safely at her home in southern Wyandotte County, she said.
“The police officer went above and beyond his duty,” she said. “They’re very awesome and they’re very nice to help me. I’m so grateful and thankful.”
