A public hearing date was set for a proposed Argentine Walmart Neighborhood Market.
At the July 11 Unified Government Commission meeting, the public hearing was set for Aug. 15 for the Project Area 2 of the Metropolitan Avenue Redevelopment District, including the new Walmart.
The proposal includes a 41,000-square-foot Walmart Neighborhood Market grocery that will be the anchor for the retail area. The development is near 21st and Metropolitan, and is on the former Structural Steel site.
The developments total $9.5 million and has a total 61,400 square feet, according to UG documents. It will be called La Plaza Argentine.
Commissioners Hal Walker and Ann Murguia did not vote on the Argentine development. The vote to approve setting the public hearing passed 7-0.
In other action at the meeting, several other items were approved that had been recommended by the Planning Commission.
