Kansas City, Kan., police are investigating a shooting March 7 in the 3100 block of South 63rd Street.
According to a police spokesman, police responded to a report of a shooting about 12:30 a.m. March 7. They found a man in his 20s, suffering from a gunshot wound, inside a residence there. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police spokesman said an initial investigation showed that during a small gathering at the residence, a disturbance occurred and escalated into gunfire. Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the incident. A male is being interviewed as a person of interest in the case, according to the spokesman.
The identity of the victim is not being released pending positive identification and family notification.
The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department's major case unit is urging anyone with information about the incident to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
