Kenneth Cox
A first-degree murder charge was filed against Kenneth F. Cox, 23, in connection with the shooting death on March 7 of Tyler Manis in the 3100 block of South 63d Street.
A second charge of aggravated assault also was filed, according to District Attorney Jerome Gorman. A second person was shot, the district attorney's office stated.
Cox, from Kansas City, Kan., is in the Wyandotte County Jail. Bond was set at $500,000.
On Thursday, police released a statement about their preliminary investigation that said there was a small gathering at the residence when a disturbance occurred and escalated into gunfire. Alcohol was believed to have played a role.
