A 2-year-old male was found walking in a wooded area without clothing in the Turner area about 1 a.m. Nov. 2, according to a Kansas City, Kan., Police Department spokesman.
A passerby saw the child and took him to a nearby fire station near 55th and Metropolitan, and police were called from there, the spokesman said.
Police officers took the child to the Wyandotte County Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center, where he remains in protective custody, pending investigation, the spokesman said.
Later this morning, around 10:40 a.m., police received a call that reported a child was missing, and confirmed it was the same child.
The police spokesman said the passerby especially is credited with acting without hesitation to see to the safety of the child in need. The child is in good condition and an investigation is ongoing, the spokesman said.
