A man was charged with involuntary manslaughter earlier this week in connection with the March 22, 2012, death of Christopher Keck.
The death occurred as a result of an automobile crash on northbound I-635 at Kansas Avenue in Kansas City, Kan., according to the Wyandotte County district attorney's office. The driver was going the wrong way on the highway, in dense fog.
Jock Sidney Powell, 56, Kansas City, Kan., was arrested today by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department on charges of involuntary manslaughter and is in the Wyandotte County Jail, the district attorney's office stated. His bond was set at $25,000. Powell is expected to make his first appearance in court today. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty, the district attorney's office stated.
The Kansas Highway Patrol investigated the case. Involuntary manslaughter is punishable by a sentence of 31 to 136 months, depending on previous criminal history, or a fine up to $300,000, or both.
