An injury-accident has been reported on I-70 eastbound at the 72nd Street overpass in Kansas City, Kan.
All lanes were closed eastbound because of the accident, according to the Kansas Turnpike Authority.
There is some asphalt work being done in that general area tonight. According to early reports, another dump truck hit a bridge. A person who was stuck in traffic on I-70 reported that there was material all over the roadway.
It is a different bridge than the one on I-70 hit by another dump truck with a raised bed on Aug. 17, costing the state around $300,000 to repair.
A Kansas Department of Transportation spokesman confirmed that a dump truck with a raised bed has hit a bridge, underneath the bridge deck, on I-70 tonight. The accident was reported around 8:30 p.m. Oct. 3.
Eastbound I-70 will be closed for the next several hours as cleanup work is completed to the damaged bridge structure, the spokesman said.
