Hot weather has returned to Kansas City, Kan., during the past two days, and it will get hotter in the days ahead, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures were in the low 90s Saturday, with the heat index in the middle 90s.
On Sunday, temperatures are expected to reach the low to middle 90s with the heat index reaching the upper 90s to nearly 100 degrees.
By the middle of the week, temperatures may climb into the middle to upper 90s with the heat index registering from 98 to 103 degrees, the weather service said.
By midweek, overnight temperatures in the urban core will drop only into the upper 70s. These prolonged warm conditions with little to no relief during the night time hours will lead to dangerous, if not deadly, conditions, the weather service stated.
