The victim of a homicide on Jan. 16 just outside City Hall, 701 N. 7th, has been identified, police said today.
The victim was Marlon J. Williams, 40, of Shawnee, Kan., police said.
Two individuals who were in a photograph police released on Thursday have been located and are not involved with the homicide, police said today.
According to information on file with the Kansas Department of Corrections, a person named Marlon J. Williams, with the same birth date as the victim, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Wyandotte County in an incident in 1996, and was sentenced in 1997. He was in state prisons through 2003, according to the department's records.
This incident remains under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Major Case Unit. They encourage anyone with information regarding the incident to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
