A residential fire at 813 Orville Ave. is under investigation, according to the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department.
The fire at 5:08 p.m. Aug. 16 originated in a rear bedroom, the Fire Department believes, and the cause is under investigation.
When firefighters arrived within three minutes of the call, those inside the home had already evacuated the building, according to a spokesman.
Crews saw smoke coming from the front of the structure, and brought in hoses to the rear bedroom to bring the fire under control within 8 minutes, the spokesman said.
There were no injuries to firefighters or residents. The building did not have working smoke or fire detectors.
The Red Cross was called to assist three adults and four children.
The estimated loss to the building and its contents was $30,000.
