A fire at a home at 2614 Armstrong resulted in a total loss this morning, according to the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department.
The fire at 2:42 a.m. May 3 was at a one-story wood-framed home, according to the Fire Department.
Heavy fire was reported from the rear of the structure, according to a Fire Department spokesman.
Crews were told by neighbors that two people might be inside the structure, but primary and secondary searches determined no one was inside, the spokesman stated.
Crews had to evacuate when the fire extended into the attic area and the roof collapsed, the spokesman said. The fire was brought under control in 45 minutes.
The estimated damage to the home was $70,000, a total loss, according to the Fire Department. The fire is under investigation, the spokesman said.
There were no injuries reported.
