Mark Holland and Ann Murguia will face each other in the general election for mayor-CEO of Kansas City, Kan.-Wyandotte County.
After a campaign marked by two major snowstorms in the last week, including one on election day, the unofficial primary election results have come in, showing Holland first with about 47 percent of the vote, followed by Murguia with 22.5 percent of the vote.
Nathan Barnes ran a close third with 19.3 percent; Cordell Meeks III with 7.8 percent; and Janice (Grant) Witt with 3.4 percent.
For the UG Commission at large District 2, Harold (Hal) Walker and Thomas (T.J.) Reardon will advance to the general election. Walker had 37.73 percent of the vote to Reardon's 36 percent. Daniel Serda received 26.2 percent of the vote.
For the UG Commission, District 1, Gayle E. Townsend received 42.25 percent of the vote, and Winfred Manning received 21.67 percent, advancing to the general election. James Connelly received 18.4 percent, and Victor A. Harris Sr., 17.6 percent.
In the UG Commission, District 8, incumbent Commissioner Butch Ellison received 42.38 percent of the vote, and Jane Winkler Philbrook received 35.89 percent. Veronica Knight received 15.63 percent, and Kendon McClaine, 6 percent.
Voter turnout was 7.9 percent of the registered voters, with 6,489 ballots cast.
