A fire at a single-family home the morning of Nov. 7 has been determined to be electrical in nature, according to a Fire Department spokesman.
The fire was reported Nov. 7 at a home at 1414 W. 37th Ave.
The fire started because of an electrical problem in the attic area, according to the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department spokesman.
Fire crews arrived within 2 minutes of the call and saw smoke coming from the roof of the one-story home, the spokesman said. A family had already evacuated the building.
Heavy smoke was found in the attic area, and crews brought the fire under control within 20 minutes, the spokesman said.
The fire investigator looked into the fire and determined it was an unintentional electrical fire, according to the spokesman.
The Red Cross was called to assist two adults and three children, the spokesman said. The children are under age 5. No injuries were reported.
The spokesman said the estimated damage to structure and contents was $9,000.
