A child playing with a lighter accidentally caused a home fire at 2:26 p.m. June 10 at 2710 N. 30th, according to Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department officials.
One adult with six children from ages 1 year to 17 years are being assisted by the Red Cross, according to the Fire Department spokesman.
The one-story, wood-framed building had already been evacuated by the time firefighters arrived, within 2 minutes of the call. Heavy fire was found in the front living area, and the fire was knocked down within 10 minute, the spokesman said.
There were no injuries in the fire.
Damage to the home and property was $60,000, a total loss, according to the Fire Department.
